I’ll start with the ironic fact that, for this particular plant sit, I didn’t have a lot of time to spend with Thyme, so it may be a little briefer than some of the other ones!
Admittedly, for years I struggled to grow Thyme beyond a year or two - I kept accidentally killing it, probably because it was sat in wetness and as unhappy as a baby with an over-full nappy. But since I started a planter on the patio that gets way too much sun and wind for the more delicate plants, and which drains a charm thanks to its hugelkultur-based layering, the Mediterranean herbs have found their Zen.
So the first thing that I always notice with Thyme is the amazing smell. If you sit with the plant and run your fingers through it, your hands just end up smelling wonderful! Here’s what Thyme had to tell me (before I dashed off to the next thing……)
Everything is sacred.
Thyme loves to spread, reminding us of the importance of expanding the spirit - we’re naturally wired to expand and grow into freedom and the fullness of our own unique expression, and thus we can learn to drop or expand beyond the perceived restrictions and discover true strength.
Small steps, often are powerful agents of change - it doesn’t have to be dramatic in-your-face.
Open the throat/chest area (maybe through sound, energy work, chakra balancing etc..) Don’t shut these off/down now - even if it feels like the ‘safer’ thing to do in these times, we can work on the healing (and boundaries) in these areas to enable us to safely keep them open - this is so needed in the world.
